Beschreibung

In this seminar, we will focus on theories of universal rights and theories of citizenship. We will also analyse the tensions between rights persons are supposed to have in virtue of their humanity and the rights they have as members of a given polity, as well as the dependence of universal rights on states and national citizenship. Finally, we will consider alternative models of citizenship. Is global citizenship possible? 

Required texts will be made available to participants via Dropbox. A detailed syllabus will be circulated to all registered participants.
