Beschreibung |

The course will present how the problem of rational choice was originally addressed and formalized (from the St. Petersburg paradox to von Neumann-Morgenstern and Savage). Next, we will focus on experimental and behavioral results (Allais paradox, Ellsberg paradox, Prospect Theory) which put into question, at least from a descriptive point of view, the classic paradigm of expected utility maximization, and we will consider alternative decision criteria (maxmin expected utility, regret minimization). Finally, we will consider how deviations from the paradigm of expected utility maximization may have a relevant impact on the financial markets.
