Beschreibung

This course will go beyond the Philosophy of Economics lecture and take a deeper dive into the topics at the heart of P&E. Why did economics fail to predict economic crisis? Why do so many economists dislike experimental economics? Is physics a good ideal for a social science such as economics? Should psychology play a larger role in economics? Can there be a better economics, both scientifically and for society? Is economics really value-free? And should it be? We will read both critics and defenders of economic practice.

This course will provide a safe space to discuss the very questions that drew many to study P&E in the first place. Not only will this course offer you the chance to combine everything learned in your studies and engage in lively discussions, but you will also have the opportunity to write an essay on any topic that falls within the scope of philosophy of economics.
